Forks,

A web search found this:

'Anyway, I immediately started wondering about the file format that the camera uses to record its images (as well as movies, which it also records in 3D). In the case of videos, the camera actually uses the well-known AVI container format, with two synchronized streams of video (one for each eye). In the case of still photos, however, the camera saves files with a .MPO extension, which stands for Multiple Picture Object.'

I know MEP has a 'side by side' export option but I've not (yet) got a 3D TV to do any testing. I'd suggest downloading a free trial version and seeing for yourself. http://www.magix.com/ca/free-download/

Regards,

Carl

On further exploration in the Help file...

Have you picked the appropriate 3D mode using the tiny r/b glasses icon at the top left of the preview screen? The default is anaglyph.

Have you set the project to double resolution?

You should be able to extend the trial period to 30 days IIRC.

Just had a look on '..the other side.'  (the 'Forum' tab) and found this on a search for 3D:

http://www.magix.info/us/3d-video.forum.194949.html

3DMOVIEMAN's youttube clip shows squashed side by side in the thumbnail but plays standard ratio single image on a 2D monitor. maybe I need to lash out for a 3D unit if I'm going to get anywhere.

And from there a jump to the suggested 3D photo forum:

Not yet explored to see if anything is relevant to MEP MX but will check. Also getting ready (two more reds and Bablelfish) to tackle the German version of the forum.

What's got me confused (beside the reds already) is the number of places there are 3D options -- project setting, timeline and import, export options etc. Live and learn.
