25 vs 27

Just an observation here for comparison purposes. I recently purchased MM Live and then upgraded to V 27 Premium. Along the way, Magix generously also provided a "hip hop" version (out of my generation) and a V 25. I, along with others, am experiencing certain stability issues with V27, which I assume are in the mend. In the meantime, I am experimenting with the V25 and want to report that this version seems quite stable and is much smoother to work with so far. Specifically, I do not seem to be experiencing the:

1. Program lockups
2. Erratic midi playing of instruments
3. Difficulty with drivers, especially the differences between play and record performance.

I do still have some of the crackling noises during a record session, but they are less severe than with V 27.

It is helpful to have an alternative to work with while 27 undergoes refinements. The use of the program is noticeably more enjoyable, and I look forward to monitoring the progress of 27. I notice that V 25 is trying hard to 'upgrade' me to V 27 but I hope that I can successfully avoid that for the time being. All instruments, purchases, and features that I need seem to be working fine also within V 25. Here is to V 27 in the future, but like I say, nice to have an alternative for now. Especially grateful for the choice, along with the Audio Sound Forge editor that was provided with the upgrade to Premium. Best regards, CEC

Agree entirely with your assessment of versions 2018 and 2019. I'm giving up with the latest version as it's pretty much totally unusable in practical terms. Freezes and crashes repeatedly and as such refuses to allow any sort of flow in creativity.

I've redownloaded and installed version 2018 and will stick with that until Magix get their act together. Version 2019 isn't so much a release as a premature escape. It's caused me no end of grief. I know that it will be fixed eventually and be a great version. However it should have been much closer to that before Magix insisted on the update.

EDIT - Working back in version 2018 - MP3 exports first time, without issue (and I'm working on the same project that version 2019 really struggled with, crashing every time I tried to export as mp3). Also I'm enjoying the ability to have Music Maker open without it impeding sound across the rest of the computer, because it allows midi auditioning in the piano roll using the 16 bit wav driver, rather than demanding use of ASIO. Far more flexible.

Music Maker does prefer ASIO and certain third party vst instruments won't work without it in 2018. However the trade off in stability makes it a no brainer.

Hi,

I agree. I have v25 on my desktop, v27 on my laptop. The latest version was given a major makeover internally as it now uses the Samplitude engine. As usually occurs with new versions, there are many bugs to be identified and removed. Raising tickets with detailed information on bugs helps Magix understand and take care of them quickly.

I'll wait until I see that v27 is stable before updating on my desktop.

@Nickillus

Not a good idea to try to edit a project created with a more recent version of a product.

As for exporting to mp3, on the export screen, do you have Normalize before exporting checked? If so, try unchecking it. In a previous version, this was the cause of exporting crashes.

Hi John,

Thanks for the info about mp3 exporting and normalisation. I'll definitely try that.

Luckily I made a point of only using vst's I know had worked in version 2018 for the version 2019 project - and so far it doesn't seem to be causing any issues. I know that's more luck than judgement.

is everyone saying 27.0.1.23 patch didn't fix 2019 ? I read here in the form 1.23 had been released . Never did try the patch . Bounced 27.0.0.16 back to 25.1.3.84 , until I here otherwise .
