2024 Premium vs 2025

MauX-65 wrote on 6/18/2024, 7:10 AM

Hello to you on the forum, By mistake I downloaded the trial version of Music Maker 2025 and obviously it asks me for the serial number for activation;  I requested a serial number for the trial version, I entered my account details and, having the 2024 Premium version, what happens now when the 30 days of the trial expire?
 I simply wanted to update my 2024 version to the new 2025 but I don't know if this can be done directly without having to purchase the new features.
 Or if I did something wrong.... I reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch and then uninstalled Music Maker 2024.

@MauX-65 Version 2025 no longer has a Free Edition. You either buy the Premium Edition 2025 or you can test it for 30 days, but that's it.

Did the version 2025 replace your version 2024? If yes, then you need to reinstall version 2024 after the trial expired, in case you don't want to buy the upgrade.

Hi SP and thanks for your help, therefore the rule according to which you purchased a version of music maker which was automatically updated to the next version without necessarily having to purchase the add-ons is no longer valid, or rather only the version was updated It seems to me that the basis of the program no longer works, so can you confirm it for me?

I can no longer update the "core" of my Premium 2024 version as happened before, now you have to purchase an upgrade for each new version as I understand it....

@MauX-65 You are correct.

After 30 days you'll not be able to start version 2025 without buying the Premium Edition upgrade.

You can still use the last version of Music Maker 2024 like before. But you need to reinstall it. It is very likely it won't get any further updates.

I think the current upgrade price is more reasonable. Over the last couple of years it was about $60 or $70 after a new release, if I remember it correctly.

@MauX-65 One question, since you already have version 2025 installed, does it work offline with all premium features? Or do you still need to login into the store for that to work?

If there is no longer a Free Edition and the Premium Edition is now standard base, it would make a lot of sense if Magix removed the always-online-DRM. The last version without this DRM was from 2017.

SP. I disconnected the network and Music Maker seems to work fine but still tries to connect to the store as you can see from the screenshot.
I can't say for sure if the program is also able to work offline but I assume not....
