My older version of MACL had this feature, but I can't see it in the trial version? also there were more effects (there was a chorus and a distortion effect in my older version.
From one John Brown to another, the old ACL was split into ACL and AML a couple of years ago. AML got all of the features and more, ACL was crippled. I suggest that you get AML, not ACL. See the features of each on Magix.com. ACL has 1 track, AML has 4. AML has spectral cleaning and essentialFX plugins, ACL none, etc.
Unfortunately, you missed the sale of AML a while back when it was less than the cost of ACL. Also, there was a Humble Bundle a while back that had ACL for next to nothing. This doesn't help you much, but like I said, I would not get ACL if I wanted the full features.
Maybe you can ask Magix for an upgrade price.

Absolutely, that's one of the main things AML does - record audio from a mic, audio from tape deck and phonographs, and audio from webradio all of which I have done. It does a great job cleaning up old tape recordings.
And, you can import a video and clean up the audio.
The spectral cleaner is a "must have" for me.
