2 stereo channels one on top one on bottom for inserting a fix.

I'm using the trial version of sound forge 12.
Does it have 4 channel, or 2 stereo channels one on top one on bottom for inserting a fix.

Very common and it on a master would be to replace one bar or sometimes one note.
On more than several occasions I will give the client a pre-master to go home with.
I would have the entire CD laid out P and Q codes 99 1/2% finished the need to replace a very small section without disturbing
 any of the other work.
In the old Sony CD architect I was able to do that
I'm confused about your 32 channel layout?

Welcome to the MAGIX Sound Forge forum.
I'm not sure what your are asking, can you post a screen shot, and/or re-explain?
Pro 12 can have 1, 2, 4 , ect, ect, channels, the option in 'Properties' or when creating a new file. Redbook Audio CDs can only have 2 channels @ 44.1/16. IMO, CD Architect is easier for creating /burning audio CDs and that's what I usually use.

SF is a 'multi channel' editor, not to be confused with a multi-track DAW.

Thanks for your response

In wavelab, there is a montage mode, in CD architect it is called use second audio layer

Sorry, I have not done anything like that in Sound Forge, so I'm not sure there is anything like that. I know in Vegas Pro, you can have multiple 'takes', which can be added over the top of an existing event... but that's VP. In SF, perhaps you can do a work-around by saving as a Sound Forge project file, which is non-destructive and/or by creating 'Events' . If anyone has other ideas, please post them.

That's what I thought, unfortunate I was hoping this is an all in one program.
But that's a real dealbreaker for me.
It would be a necessity for the final touch on a master

It seems, they are more interested in tricks that a practical application for professionals.

After experimenting some, you can drop in songs (or other sound files) to the timeline as 'Events'. So replacing a segment/track) would not change the other events already on the timeline. FX can also be applied individually to the events.. or to the entire timeline. Most of the other UI and processes for events are similar to CD Arc and Vegas. See the SF internal help files or the Pro 12 user manual.

I have rarely used the 'Event' options in SF since I typically use CD Arc for Audio CDs or Vegas Pro.

Hi Rraud,

Thanks for your help so a couple of questions.
1 First of all are you part of the sound forge team or a user like myself?
2 How would I contact the research and development department if a user ?
3 Are they making a new CD architect? If not by using CD architect, and it only being a 32-bit program do you feel it would degrade the sound?

On the statement side yes I've experimented with each event tool, I'm familiar with sound forge since it was sonic foundry.
I realize it is a two track editor what I mainly use it for was to record a stereo mix into the computer. Then I would take the sound files put them into CD architect and finish the project.
Now the new sound forge appears to be an all in one program so I guess Im trying to figure out how they can leave the dual stereo tracks out.
The DDP feature is fantastic, the batch file processing is great. But in my opinion that is reason to look for another program.
If they are going to make it an all in one it should have the capability of lining those tracks up visually.
It is the easiest and fastest way to make a splice between two stereo tracks. You can line old track up with the new visually and then by erasing the old track you can just use the new.
In my opinion it is a Huge Oversight
Tom

3. Are they making a new CD architect? If not by using CD architect, and it only being a 32-bit program do you feel it would degrade the sound?
 > I highly doubt we will see an updated version of CD-A.
>>There is no difference in the sound quality between 32 and 64 bit Magix/SCS programs. 64 bit plug-ins may be a little more efficient in preview if there are many in a chain. 64 bit SF opens, reacts to commands and renders a little faster., (at least it seems to). Unfortunately 'some' 32 bit Direct X plug-ins are not 'available' in 64 bit Pro 12 or VP (for instance my SF/iZotope mastering suites I and II and the Ultrafunk plugs).

SF events can be x-faded, split, shifted and moved around just like CD-A, I'm just not aware of a way to add 'takes' like CD-A and VP. Work should be saved as a non-destructive project file. <.frg>
