I have just downloaded the 10.0.12,2 patch. Can I now discard the file I downloaded 6 months ago (10.0.1.15) from my archive of downloaded programs? With Windows, service packs are not cumulative--you have to install each one, but I don't know how Magix does it. I see nothing on the Magix website that discusses whether each successive patch makes all the previous ones obsolete.
Also, I have not had the problem yet, but I notice that the knowledge base here discusses the "maximum activations reached" issue. I fully understand that Magix needs to keep its communist users from giving away the program to all their buddies, but, on the other hand, legitimate users do need to reinstall on occasion even with the same operating system, because, if for no other reason, Windows needs to be reinstalled regularly to keep it functioning properly. I installed Magix on this system when it was running VIsta, and I upgraded the O.S. to Win7 using a clean install, but have not reinstalled any of the Magix programs. I am wondering if, as with Adobe programs, you can deactivate the program from the system before you clean the system in order to keep from using up however many activations they allow you, or if there is a registry key I could save and merge with the clean system in order to avoid re-activating. (Sometimes your system might crash completely, forcing a clean install without the opportunity of de-activating, but that is rare, and presumably they allow you, I would guess, maybe 5 activations before it would not re-activate; does anybody know how many they allow before you have to contact them?) This question actually applies to all of their software.
