If you're playing MP3 (or another lossy format) try enabling the 'Always proxy compressed formats' option in the "Options> Preferences> General" menu. If that's no help, experiment with a different buffer playback setting but I am not sure

Please do, Rick. It'd be very useful to know if the WAVs are somehow inherently flawed and causing the glitches during the MP3 encoding process. Then I'll have to wonder at what stage the flaws occurred: during initial clean up in SF18, or later

This was not on the description and order page that I sawI came no where close to 10 text pagesFrom my days in ascii files, a character is what ever you could see in a text file About 20 kb mp3 files (less), It doesn't matter I learned too

Hi @Michael-Parton, in Sound Forge Audio Studio (SFAS), I am not aware of any other way to encode an MP3 (or any other format for that matter) than through the 'Save' or 'Save as' command,The default 'temp' folder is C:\Users\..user

@scott-james This can be caused by editing compressed audio files like MP3. It's recommended to convert them to WAV first. If you enable to always proxy compressed audio files in the Sound Forge program preferences, this will be done

Well, it's strange because I'm using Reaper for 15 years without a hitch. I have encoded to 128 kbps on the new PC and didn't hear of any problems from clients (I tend to batch the files and send them off in a fire and forget sort of way). The

I am using a folder in user/documents. Not a temp file. I am not doing any editing on the file (may nornalize). I can see why you save as a wave file. I used the reset all preferences and clear cache. Recorded again, same thing. If I go to the file

Thanks, SP and I hear you. But my worry here is that if I edit it a WAV and need to save it to a 192 kbps MP3, that SF18 is doing something screwy with it that isn't happening in (for instance) SF14. It was displaying other really strange behaviour,

@Paul-Fegan In our experience it's not a good idea to edit MP3 files. They are already lossy compressed, this means they are missing data compared to the original WAV files, and they are read out in frames of data instead of individual samples,

@Gra_Ham You may like to try this little hack I've successfully used for a similar problem using DIVX and MP3 in an MKV container. Split the file using gMKVExtractGUI (a Google search showed this https://www.videohelp.com/software/gMKVExtractGUI).
