browj2 wrote on 1/24/2019, 9:56 AM

Important changes in version 18.0.2.233

* Fixed sound problems during playback & import
* Improved stability
* Improved performance for handling in the arranger
* "T" button no longer ignores 3D titles
* Fix for projects where playback always began at the start of the project

I'm still updating; don't know if any of the problems on the previous list have been addressed.

Hi John

Testing so far:

Fixed

  • . . . . "T" button no longer ignores 3D titles . . . . Now works correctly.

Not fixed

  • New Blue OFX effects still not working for me (black screen)

  • NB Essentials IV Drop Shadow - OFX: still causes a crash and restart in MEP .

  • External audio editor - right-clicking on the audio part of a video clip does not bring up the possibility of editing it in an external editor - still not fixed.

I'm still getting dropouts of images in certain transition effects. I wouldn't mind during editing but it sometimes happens on exporting as well.

There should be images in the bottom two corners on the clip above.

And the one above should look like the one below.

The PC is far from maxing out processing wise so I'm wondering if it's a disc-related problem or MEP playing up.

Window reporting is not showing any signs of disc problems maxing out.

It doesn't happen on all transitions similar to these but the latest transition packs (that these come from) seem to be the worst for this happening.

[Edit Additional]

I should have added at the end of those transitions or sometimes during, I also get a short period of black frames. The funny thing is the duration of the dropouts and places it happens is seldom the same exact place or duration twice.

Greetings,

Green processing icon on the taskbar when encoding still shows solid gree i.e. not gradually moving to the right as the encoding progresses.

After using crop/zoom for on a clip / photo then rotating it (an extreme 90 degrees for this example) and then need to crop a little more or less, selection return to 0 degrees for the cropping. Makes life a little tricky to get the required size.

The effects button still won't stay where I put them:-

Crop/zoom a clip. Apply Magnifying glass to a bit of it. The buttons return to Crop/Zoom. To alter the magnifying glass effect I need to scroll down. This become more complicate the more effects are used.

Not earth shattering problems I agree but all of these gripes worked in versions 2018 and before. The gripes have been documented since version 2019 came on the scene (pun intended!). Will my subscription expire before these are fixed? I doubt it.

It will no doubt be blamed on Brexit.

Below is the updated list from patch 209 for 233. If anyone has noticed any new bugs, please post them. I have not gone through all of the posts.

1. Startup screen - Mostly resolved - but the proposed project is not the last one saved, so there is still a slight problem..

2. Templates screen - on my Surface Pro 4, same problem that I raised for VPX - cannot use the vertical scroll that is to the left of the list. Instead, a double-arrow shows up to resize the window.

3. No updated manual, either pdf or chm

4. Resolved: Professional title animations - these were finally released as Dynamic Titles but are quite limited - cannot "customize the font, font color or other text properties." Actually, you can change the colour by using the Art filter, Substitution effect.

5. Chroma key for everyone - cannot find anything about this new feature. This has been discussed and Magix has indicated that it includes some new features under Chromakey, Color - now with Threshold, Fade Range and Antispill. I am not convinced as the advert implies something more, like isolating a moving object from the background.

6. External audio editor - right-clicking on the audio part of a video clip does not bring up the possibility of editing it in an external editor. It used to and should.

7. External audio editor - AML and ACL return errors, VSCL returns nothing. Only ME3 and Samplitude Pro X3 work properly.

8. NewBlue Video Essentials III and IV OFX still giving black preview monitor with/without HWA and export either crashes MEP or gives video with no image, only sound, with/without HWA. This affects some computers and not others. Support have suggested turning off GPU acceleration in the New Blue Application Manager that appears when using the NB effects.

9. MultiCam - audio on Track 2 seems to create transitions when exiting (see French forum).

10. Resolved: proDAD Heroglyph - causes MEP2019 to restart. Works for me in patch 209.

11. Resolved, not a problem - Chapters - seems to be a problem with chapters not starting at the correct location on a burned DVD/BR

12. Resolved: Rotation

13. Icon Button under Effects jumps back to top of list (NB non OFX effects): the previous version the icon buttons under Effects always stayed where they were i.e. using a button at the bottom of the scrolling bit and applying the effect, that button was still showing. In the new version after applying the effect at the bottom of the scroller, the button moves to the top again meaning I have to scroll down to the bottom (or wherever) again.

14. Taskbar icon during export: when a video is being exported, the taskbar icon is always solid green. In the previous version it slowly turned green as the encoding progressed.

15. Resolved: NB Essentials IV Drop Shadow - OFX: causes a crash and restart (in both MEP and VPX).

16. HitFilm OFX - keyframing X and Y - the values of X do not hold and quickly rise to infinity when the playback marker is moved back and forth.

17. Problem with sound of recordings using new iPhone - I haven't tested yet.

EDIT: New bug

18. Titles - My Own - saved titles with various names all show up with the name "My Own."

Hi John

Here is a new one - the Trimmer Single Object often fails to adjust fade in / out settings using the spinner controls. When this happens I have to use the object fade in/out handles first before the Trimmer will change the values - see the video below.

This occurs on both my laptop and PC.

Hi John,

Just tested the Object Trimmer and it's worse than that. Ctrl+Alt+left mouse button moves the counter 5 frames at a time. Now with numbers in both boxes, just do a single click on any one of the 4 arrow buttons. Both counters jump back to 0. How could they break this?

I will add it to the list.

This Object Trimmer bug is a real nuisance. I used it quite a lot when it worked.

I'm also annoyed that the drag-adjust fade using the handles at the end of an object don't adjust the other grouped object. For example, I bring in an MP4 (video and audio). When I try to fade the video, the audio no longer fades in unison. The object are grouped as indicated by them both changing to yellow when I click on either of them.

As we say in Australia, Not Happy Jan!

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Confirmed - does not work correctly in Object trimmer or when dragging the handles. Works fine in MEP 2016.

This was reported by the French quite a while ago and Magix is aware of it but has not moved on it. They are very slow fixing bugs and need some prompting from more users.
