Change the chords or key in the music maker jam app for Android

Gdpowells wrote on 7/25/2015, 8:24 PM
This is a great app but I cant find a way to change the available chords. They are all in the key of C (other than the A#, but I realise why). Is it possible to change to a different key? I hope so! Thanks (please answer about the mobile app not the desktop software) Thanks. In response to the first answer ; thanks so much for your reply but I think you are talking about selecting chords from those available rather than changing the available chords. For example the chords I can choose from include Cmaj and Emin but I can't find Cmin or Emaj. Thanks again.

Hi

Tap the Project button then either

- tap the Harmony button and select a key

or

- tap the Manual button then tap the Editor button to open the screen where you can then assign indiviual keys to the sections of the part.

You will have to repeat this for all song parts by switching between the Harmony editor and the Song parts to select the parts you want to change.

I'm using the windows version and this does not work.

For starters, there is no button labeled "manual".

But I "mauallly" selected my key from "Auto Harmony" but as soon as I press the "editor" button it reverts to C

Hi

@fastlane69 - please do not hijack another members question - functions in MMJ on Android are in different locations to those of the Windows App version.

To use the 'globa'l key option for each part refer to the image below - select the Manual button (1) then select the key (2) repeat this for each part (3) of the project.

To change the individual 'beats' in each part refer to the image below - select the Harmony Editor (1), for each individual beat click the appropriate key square (2), repeat for each part (3) of the project.

LOL... no john... that is not what is being asked.
What is being asked is if you can change the Key Center.

Right now, the key center is fixed at C major (C).. this means that for example D will be always be minor (d)
What he is asking for, and I'm curious about myself, is if you can for example switch the Key Center to D Major (D) in which case C would be minor (c).

So far, it seem it's fixed.

Hi

AFAICS the chords are fixed as determined by the music style and instruments being played.

hi,

thanks very much to both John and fastlane69. It's always great to find a new piece of software with an active forum. I appreciate the time you guys took to respond.

Unfortunately, not being able to change the key is a bit of a killer for me. While I accept that harmony is relative, there are reasons why many people (including me) like to be able to play in different keys. I'll keep a watch on the app and if this ever changes will be back.

Best wishes, Doug.

You may be better served with Music Maker Pro or some other software... after all, MMJ is just for jamming and while I, like you, would love the ability to move key centers, I'll take that as the price to pay for an easy "jam", you know? :)

Hello,

thank you for the wonderful Android app, I love it, however, I am unable to change key, as the user in the first post mentioned. Also the solution described in the second post I cannot find. Maybe the interface has changed since then?

Where can I change the key of the music in the new app?

Thank you very much,

Binyomin

P.S. I tried to login with my existing login to the forum, but I forgot the password and the password reminder did not send an email in 24 hours, so I had to register an account, which worked, and the email was also sent. So there might be a possible problem with email sending for password reminder...

@binyomin-s

Please see John EB's post here. It seems it cannot be done in the free Android app.

OK, thank you! And is there any option available to do it, not necessarily for free?

emmrecs wrote on 7/9/2017, 7:54 AM

@binyomin-s

I think your only option is to purchase one of the Music Maker versions designed to be used on PCs.
