Video Editing Tip

Hopefully I put this in the right spot. This is a confusing forum and website. Anyhow, I have Movie Edit Pro Premium (2020) on Windows 10. I have been using a version of this since about 2005/2006. I'm having a bit of a problem figuring this out. I have a picture that Im trying to get to move across the screen left>right and top>bottom at the same time. I need it to travel at about 45 degrees. Im attaching an image. I need the mountain climber to climb across the yellow line and fall/spin off at the end. This shouldnt be too hard.

Hi,

This is the right place to ask.

Presuming that your mountain climber is a separate image, then select it, go to Effects, Video Effects, Size/Position, and add a keyframe at the starting position, move along the timeline, move the climber to the top and a second keyframe will be added. Move along the timeline and move the climber but give him some rotation, etc.

I used the handle on the image to rotate the image by several rotations.

Thanks. I'm working on it. I got it to travel along the line. In 15 years, I've never used keyframes. My original version used curves and it seemed more straightforward. I'm learning how to follow the key frames and understand how they work. The timing part seems tricky. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Starting the change of direction seems harder than it should be. I'm going to search around and find a tutorial. Anyhow.. thanks a ton for your help.

Hi,

As you’re new to key frames you might find it helpful to step through my old tutorial. The instructions remain almost identical in current versions of MEP.

Download the very brief PDF 'instructions', and click the YouTube video link. Or go to it directly here:
