how do i get my video to work in my website?

I have produced a video for my website, using Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus, and exported it as a media player. If I click on the .htm file produced it immediately goes to the browser and plays the video.

I have uploaded the six files produced to the root directory of the website, same directory as the index.htm file, but when I press the link button for the video to play it comes back with the message that the .htm can't be found.

What do I need to do to get this to work?

I'm using Windows 7 on a 64 bit machine.

I suspect the link button URL is not pointing to the correct htm file.

As an example if I export a project, called Speed Curve, as mp4 with the Export as website option and do not change the export filename I get six files.

One of these files is the web page Speed Curve.htm which actually plays the video by referencing the five other files.

For a link to work the link must point to (in the example above) Speed Curve.htm.

This I would not recommend - place the six files in a subfolder of the website and adjust the link URL. It is too easy to overwrite other files by placing everything in the root of the website

Hi,

I agree with John's assesment. What program are you using to build your web site? If it is Xara, I would definitely suggest that you not place the files in the root directory. Place just the one video file in a sub directory, and point the link there. I would also export it as .mp4, to get the best results.
