If you're having problems with DirectX plugins — especially Legacy plugins — you may need to rescan them. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Close all open programs on your computer.
- In the Windows Start menu, select "Run", enter "regedit" and click "OK" to the open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following folder in the Editor: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software. This folder contains the subfolders for all SCS applications and their subcomponents.
- Search for the folder with the name of the plugin you're having issues with and expand the folder. You should now see the following subfolders: DXCache, License and Metrics.
- Right-click the folder labeled "DXCache" and select "Delete". This will delete the DirectX cache for the program. When you start the program, the DXCache file will be regenerated, and the changes you've made to the DirectX plugin will be shown in the program.
Important: Be sure to create a backup of the registry before you make any changes. When you edit the registry or delete something from it, you always run the risk of having to perform a complete reinstall of the operating system.
