Hi Jens,

The name of the plant is "Bird of Paradise"  it does have a biological name but I do not know what that is.  Most of the plants like this one are either red or pink, that is why I took a picture of this one because I have never seen a yellow one.  I lived in California and have visited Hawaii and they have always been red or pink, never yellow.
