Merry Christmas!

Well, here's something I've certainly never done before. To this day, I would not use the word "singer" to describe myself...but 'tis the season to challenge myself, and what better way to do that than with an acapella piece! It's actually something I have wanted to try for a while, and I suppose you could hear a hint of it in my cover of "How Great Thou Art".

I also wanted to make an original Christmas song, because to be honest, I get tired of the same ones over and over. So I was wondering how I would do something original. It seems like it's all been done before. Well, I thought it might be funny if my lyrics throughout the whole song were simply "Whoa! It's Christmas!". But I soon realized that was much too simple, so I added the middle section (verse) which basically just talks about the excitement as Christmas finally arrives, and the release from stress. I still wanted to keep the song pretty short though, so there is no second verse. The "chorus, verse, chorus" structure doesn't make much sense, but whatever. Now with the video, I also wanted to challenge myself. Obviously the filming wasn't too difficult, but it did take a while to arrange all the different parts on screen. I'm slowly getting more proficient at that; hopefully it will be easier if I ever try it again.

Thanks for watching, listening, and sharing honest opinions. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, and in case this is my last upload of 2015, I will also say Happy New Year! Best wishes, and God bless.

Lyrics:

Whoa! ...

It's Christmas!

I can't believe it's here at last

So long it took the year to pass

But finally we celebrate

the day we all anticipate

I can't believe it's here at last

After a million fears amassed

Preoccupied with hectic days

Stressed out in such eclectic ways, but now...

Whoa! ...

It's Christmas!

Hi Spritebat

Wow!  You have a good acapella voice, the video is great, and not a single Christmas gimmick in the lyrics.

Well done.

Hi Travis:

Well, alright!  Yes indeed, it's Christmas.  I agree with John, the acapella is on target.  I come from a long line of professional singers, and I'm sure they would enjoy your five-part vocal treatment of this original song.

As for originality, I don't believe anyone in this forum has ever tried this through video.  It's short, but oh so sweet.  The fact that you're fearless with your many compositions/arrangements is terrific, my friend.

Always a treat anticipating what you'll come up with.

Enjoy a great Christmas!

Griff

Hey Travis

Due to the complete overhaul of my hard drive in my computer and the fact that it's taking FOREVER, I have only been able to get on this site using my phone.  Unfortunately I can't LISTEN to anything or comment.  Now that I can get on here, I can't HEAR anything but I wanted you to know that I'm not ignoring your invitation to listen to this.  It's that I can't hear anything but the video is very cute and makes me want to hear your song even more!  Once things are up and running  (which better be soon!) I will come back an listen to this.  If Griff says it's good, I believe him!

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
