Hallo an meine kreativen Mitstreiter,
1986 fanden John und ich über die Musik zueinander und stellten fest, dass wir beide Schützen in einer Einheit in Vietnam waren und viele unserer Erfahrungen über Angst, Triumphe, Tapferkeit und Mut austauschten. Wir hatten viel gemeinsam, und es war ein Geschenk der Therapie für uns beide.
Wir waren Teil einer fünfköpfigen Band, die fast täglich in meinem Kellerstudio in New York jammte und ein paar coole Eigenkompositionen herausbrachte. Wir traten nie auf und nannten uns "Real to Reel" (wirklich originell, was?) und spielten drei 8-Spur-Studio-Songs. Ich schweife ab. Also trennten sich John und ich, um unser eigenes 'Ding' zu machen und nannten uns "Vets Two". Um es kurz zu machen: John schrieb "The Gunfighter", ich zeigte ihm ein 60-sekündiges Intro, er liebte es und gab mir freie Hand mit meinen beiden Keyboards und der Programmierung des Drumulators für den ganzen Song, wie ich es für richtig hielt. Ich fühlte mich geehrt, weil er besser auf den Tasten spielte als ich, aber ich spielte "The Gunfighter" am besten, weil es meiner war. Hello to my fellow Creatives,

In 1986 John and I found each other through music and found that we were both Riflemen in line units in Vietnam and traded many of our experiences of fear, triumphs, bravery and courage. We had much in common and it was a gift of therapy for both of us.

We were part of a 5 pc. band that jammed almost daily in my basement studio in New York and put out some cool originals and never did gigs calling ourselves "Real to Reel" (really original, huh?) doing Three 8 track studio songs. I digress.

So, John and I broke away to do our own 'thing' and called ourselves "Vets Two". So, to make a short story long, John wrote "The Gunfighter". I showed him a 60 sec. intro, he loved it and gave me carte-blanche with my two keyboards and to program the Drumulator for the whole song as I saw fit. I was honored because he played the ivories better than me.but I played "The Gunfighter" best because it was mine. His guitar is awesome, it feels the anguish of the metaphorical story of war by virtue of a western gunfight.

My friend Olly, thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment. The vocals you hear are of Johns. He was the vocals of our two-man band. I can only dream of singing like that.
