A short video of the Rhine falls taken on holiday in Switzerland and Germany summer 2012.

The falls are located, near the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland, between the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich.

They are 150 m (450 ft) wide and 23 m (75 ft) high and in summer, the average water flow is 700 m³/s. The power of water in these falls is impressive and the noise incredible as the water flows over the falls.

It is possible to get within a few metres of the falls at one of the observation points.

The background of the introduction and still images is part of the clip which follows immediately after. A section of the clip was slowed down to approx 1/6 normal speed, a colourised and dilated effect applied.

nICE ONE. I will be travelling to Zurich this winter and would surely pay a visit to the Rhine falls.

I loved the start with so many images jumping.

Hi John,

I haven't been visiting this 'shared videos' section of the site so only just saw this one. Nicely done!

Did you create your six-image animation with basic KF work, or have you made your own collage? I've made lots to supplement the built in set, but probably use only 3 or 4 regularly.

Hi Terry

It is all done with KF animation only plus changng motion curve to Bezier so the images slow down and bounce back realistically. Set up one image to drop down and bounce, then copied and pasted the effect to the other images, then adjusted the positioning and 'bounce' level.
