Digeridoos, rainsticks, and synthesizers oh my! This video is a rest between journeys but is an adventure in itself. In my creation and performance of this piece I imagined ancient musical instruments and the very origins of music. A well know synthesizer pioneer in the North American southwest, Steve Roach had brought the digeridoo from the Australian ancient musical culture to our own land. I have had some occasions to meet Steve Roach who had encouraged me in my music. Here I will feature the didgeridoo as part of my sound. Though I have never quite mastered the digeridoo sometimes my attempts are a bit comical, but a worthy attempt ;). We will take a restful look at the ancient paths journeyed, the aboriginal dreamtime, and other ancient journeys with animals of the wild resting along the way. And as Steve Roach has pioneered the synthesizer I will then feature the synthesizer of modern times and towards the end of the video I will take us on a quick tour of my own home studio where the sounds of my dreams are made ;). In a later video I will feature the rainstick and more of the encouragement that Steve Roach has given me.
I thank all the digital image artists who have made their works available to me for this video.

Thank you Stephen,

Good that you liked the tour of my studio. The other instrument in my hands is a rainstick. The rainstick is a apparently a more recent primitive instrument than the digeridoo that is seen in some South American cultures but it does make a very good rain sound. You can say it is a very simple synthesizer just made with wood. I will be featuring my rainstick in another music-video in the coming months.

Glad you dropped by!

Mark ;)

The digeridoos and rainsticks soon make their presence felt. The backing chords have that wonderful clear synth sound. Many of the depictions have a Biblical feel to them with the lighting and the fonts. Interesting to see your studio. Synths to the rafters! I believe I saw a mini-Moog in there. A very expressive piece rich in serenity. A wonderful video, Mark. Incidentally, I notice the arm rests of your studio chair are well worn. You must have been doing a lot of "synthing"!

Best wishes,

Philip

Hello Phillip,

Yes, my music has a kind of spiritual sense. I did this piece with a combination of my Moog Mother 32 semi modular synth and the Arturia Modular V which is a virtual re-creation of the big console sized Moog synths of the 60's. To my understanding Robert Moog himself helped in the development of the software. So it was all Moog sound on this one. And some quality samples of digeridoos that have been made available to me. There is in the background some of my attempts at playing the digeridoo. Oh yea, that chair has been the seat of many years of my armchair contemplation of life and the creation of my music.

Thank you much!

Mark ;)

All the best,

Jinty.....

Very happy you enjoyed this music-video, and my studio. The best way to keep my studio warm during this coming cold winter is to keep the synthesizers running and tuned and to produce more music ... more to come ;)

Hey Bert,

Glad you appreciated this piece. I wanted the origins of music to be with us to our present age. And thank you again, my place is a place for big hearts upstairs ;) !!!

Thank you much Sylvio, this was lots of fun doing. I was playing the didgeridoo in some of the background of the sound but the noticeable and good segments of the didgeridoo sound were from some excellent samples that I was able to attain for this piece. And thank you again for your appreciation, I really love your music works too, sometimes I get humorous in my comments but really enjoy what you share with us !!!
