In July 2011, my dear friend Alix Rice was skateboarding home from work when she was struck and killed by a doctor who was driving drunk. She was 18. This is her story.

Lyrics, vocals, and arrangement by Ian Michalski.

LYRICS

Mr. Bad Medicine was feeling pretty frisky

Drinking at the country club

Rum and whisky

Way past the legal limit

When he got the urge to go drivin

Speedin round through the suburbs

Like a big piece of shit

He can barely see the road

Cause hes totally lit

Dodging lawn gnomes

Street signs

Parked cars

still imbibing

In the very same place at the very same point

Coming home from her shift at the pizza joint

On a skate board came

The local karaoke djs daughter

Mr Medicine then lost control of the car

And he hit the young lass

Who was thrown pretty far

And he just keeps right on going like he never even saw her

Chorus

And the people in the jury said

Said the fury of the law

Couldn’t ever undo what he did

So why should they abuse it

They said he didn’t do wrong

All he did was cruise right along

Rockin out to his radios cover up music

Mr Medicine sits nervous in the court

Just imagining the verdict

The papers will report

Wonderin if its still true

That rich guys get away with murder

Got his story all straight

His defense was clear

Said he thought he hit some dumb dog or a deer

So he just sped right on through and didn’t worry any further

So they told him should probably attend AA

And the judge just shrugged with nothing to say

And the parents of the girl got a few hundred grand

Just to settle

So the whole thing ends with a sweet girl dead

And the parents on pills for the anger in their head

And a murderer free to walk round

With  the grin of the devil

Chorus

Hi, triste histoire, triste fin, triste parents. Mais malheureusement, ce genre d'histoire se doit d'être raconté et, vous l'avez fait. pour cela je vous dit bravo et merci. La musique et le chanteur sont très bons.😢

a sad story - ciao da sandro

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

R.I.P. Alix Rice....I am sad that young people always die too early. My condolences and thanks for this song to the memory of Alix....by the way, the song is well done and worth remembering.

Hello Ian and Arianna, First my condolences to your dear friend Alix Rice; sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time with a real cad, my friends! But what the jury did was WRONG! Too often people are not held accountable for their actions and this is one of them, Ian! A very compelling lyric and story, and sadly it doesn't surprise me, my friends! A great way to honor your friend with this song. It's a damn good piece of work; I just wish it were not true, my friends! SUPERB! VME! Clay Brian Wilson 10,000 Suns! 💯👍👍👍👍👍 P.S. So sorry for your loss, my friends!
