Would an audio interface give me better sound in MMM 17

Hi, I am having playback problems with MMM 17 premium.  The sound sometimes plays back in slow motion or is choppy or distorted. I have a feeling it might be that my onboard sound card is just not good enough.  If I purchased a usb audio interface (Behringer uca222) would this act as a sound card?  My midi keyboard is just a plug n play. Would I need to plug the keyboard in to the interface or would I just plug both in to separate ports?  Or do I have to get a better sound card and replace the one inside my laptop?  I have no idea?

Thanks guys.

I'm sorry to hear my suggestions haven't helped all that much.  Just so everyone else knows what you have...

"I  have Windows Vista 32 bit, dual core 2 processor (the dial says that is ok as far as usage goes) 2 gigs of ram, ( it runs to about 70% when I am using MMM)  and the sound card is a Realtek hd audio unimodem half duplex audio device, it's the one that came with my pc."

I couldn't find a lot of useful information on your sound card/chip, but it did remind me of one thing.  Do you have the most up-to-date driver installed for use with Windows Vista?  Also, it's possible Vista is having trouble running MM-17.  Perhaps someone else knows more about that.

Can you tell us which MIDI keyboard you are using please?  I assume you're using a USB connection, yes?

I would return the sampling frequency back to 44.1 kHz.  That is the standard most equipment is set to run at, and it is considered "CD" quality (44.1 kHz, 16-bit).

Yes, a quality audio interface will function as a high-end sound card, plus it has a number of input/output ports.  You would have to set the audio interface as the recording and output device in your computer and in MMM.

I can't vouch for the quality of the Behringer though.  You generally get what you pay for.  I was trying to find the specs on your Realtek device, but I didn't have any luck right off the bat.
