First of all, please make sure that you really created a standard audio CD and not accidentally burned one of the other possible formats, e.g. MP3 disc. While some modern CD players will play MP3 discs, this is not a guaranteed feature. Only audio CDs are the right way to go if you want to guarantee compatibility. And even then, some devices (especially older CD players) might not be able to replay home-made CD-R discs or especially CD-RW discs. However, that's a completely different matter.
If you've been producing proper audio CDs, it might just boil down to a readability issue. Experimenting with different types of CD-R blanks, burning at slower speeds and avoiding CD-RW blanks are always recommended troubleshooting steps for this scenario. I hope any of this works for you.
