This is what comes to mind as far as HDV capture troubleshooting goes: Make sure you're actually picking the HDV capture option in Movie Edit Pro (as opposed to the regular DV capture option) and the camera must be in play mode. On the camera, make sure that everything is configured correctly for HDV output. I know from similar Sony HDV camera models that there's a conversion option from HDV to standard definition DV that might be enabled. If that is the case, the capture of HDV material via the HDV option in the program will fail. So, that's definitely something to explore.
