why does the message codec missing and install newer version of w

I try to add music to my project, from my windows media player list all seems to be OK ontil I add the song to the project, I then get a pop up stating that codec is missing and that I should install a newer version of media player, this happens on all three of our computers.
our systems are all Vista.
any suggestions welcome .....Terry

Well, you should do what the message asks you to do: Update/Install Windows Media Player and its related components. You can find everything you need on the Microsoft website:
