why does my dvd movie work in some dvd players and not in others?

This is the unfortunate nature of DVD manufactures. Many are unable to read a burned DVD - others are finicky about the disk type.

I've had the best luck with DVD +R but experiment with different types. Make sure you have a good burner too. I bought an HP Light Scribe DVD multi-format burner a couple years ago and couldn't be happier. My player compatibility is over 99% now.
