Why do AVCHD, blu-ray mpeg2 and h.264 files not play on all Blu-ray players?

I have burned a slideshow in all three of these high-definition formats and sent them to various people, but many people tell me none of the formats will play on their blu-ray players.  In fact, it seems that there is only a 50:50 chance of ANY of these formats playing on any given blu-ray player.  Why is this?  For example, I have an AVCHD disc that plays on one blu-ray player but  not on another one, even though they both say they will play AVCHD discs.  This is not isolated to a single player - I have had reports from many people that none of the formats will work, despite the fact that I have already tested them on one of my own blu-ray players.

Hi

The problem may not be with the formats but the discs you are using.  Are the 'non playing' players actually detecting the discs or given an error code - on one of my standalone players I get an error 011 and on the other a short message 'Disc unreadable'  when a disc cannot be read.

They often play the music but don't show the picture.  Or, they just hang up and play in a very choppy fashion.  It appears that no matter what format you use the product just doesn't play on all players.   I've used two kinds of discs, too.
