why cant i record in stereo

I have audio cleaning lab 15 deluxe and a ccompaq presario pc and i cant record in stereo.
Do i need abetter sound card or what?

Sorry I have no answer for you but have a similar problem. I have Magix 14 and when trying to record a vocal or guitar it only comes through the left or right channel...so frustrating. Been trying to find solution for 8 hours!!
