Why can't MEP 15 seem to export 1080i to camera?

After editing an HDV project I select Export as mpg-HDV2PAL-export to

camera via firewire-OK, nothing further happens. However if I select

HDV1PAL, which my camera (Canon HV10) does't support, it begins

the expected mixdown and creates a 720 file and then gives me the

option to output to camera. At this point(from the camera) I get the

message that the

file type is un-supported. How do I export to my Canon HV10 HDV camera?

I have managed to do this from within a friends Adobe Premiere.

Hi,

If the mixdown doesn't even start when trying to export via the HDV2/1080i preset, this might not have anything to do with the FireWire export process. Try this: When you're in the MPEG-2 export dialog, pick the HDV2 preset and then click on the "Advanced" button to get into the advanced encoder settings. Disable smart rendering, confirm via "OK" and try again.

If the problem is really with the FireWire export after the 1080i MPEG-2 file has been created, please refer to my answer to your other recent question: Update the chipset/FireWire controller drivers or even try a different, quality FireWire controller (e.g. Texas Instruments IEEE1394 plug-in card).

I hope this helps!
