Why Can't I use MP4 youtube downloads as MP4's import files?

I have downloaded a number of Youtube videos as MP4s, but when I use Edit pro 14 it can't read it. Do I need to convert the video? How ?

In Movies On DVD you have to pay extra for the Magix MP4 encoder at www.magix.com/uk/shop/shopdaten/encoder/mpeg4-encoder-upgrade1.

It's possible that Movie Edit Pro also needs a separate license. I would expect (but don't know for sure) that if you buy the encoder it will allow imports as well as exports.

For a free conversion the 'Super' progam just about converts anything to anythng. You can get it at www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html. Make sure you read the download guide at www.erightsoft.net/dlhelp.html.
