Why are the burned slideshows on dvd blurry and pixely?

Just bought a new computer...2TB Hard Drive, 16GB of Ram, really fast.  plenty of room.

Bought the new Photostory 2014 Deluxe.

Works great.  Love the program.  Easy to use.

Having one problem:  When I burn the disc it's fuzzy and pixely.

Using DVD setting, Preset "Custom Fit", Encoder settings - Bit rate 9724 (Max), Quality 15 (Max).

Not sure what to do.  Help!

Hi

Pixellation / blur can be caused by several things:

   -  the original images / video are low resolution

   -  the bitrate is too slow - does not apply in this case as you are using the max bitrate for DVD

   -  you are viewing on a HD TV (or monitor) at full resolution and the upscaling from the player is either not working or is poor. - DVD resolution is 720 x 576 (PAL) or 720 x 480 (NTSC) HD TV are usually 1920 x 1080 or higher if a 4k TV.

Thanks John.  Is there anything I can do to resolve this.  Is the Blue Ray option only for Blue Ray players?  Would that option make for sharper images?

Hi

. . . . Is the Blue Ray option only for Blue Ray players? . . . .

Yes and no - you can create a Bluray disc on a standard DVD disc (not BD) and DVD burner providing the movie is no longer then 20 - 25 mins however it can only be played back on a Blueray player.

Another possibility if you have WIndows 8 or 8.1 and a smart HD TV  is that you can export to a HD mp4 file and stream to (play to) the TV.  This does of course depend on your HD TV being connected to a wifi or cable network.- see this article.
