While burning an AVCHD project, the burning process always aborts. Can someone help ?

I can burn a project on a DVD, but while trying to burn on an AVCHD the processs always aborts.  My Samsung blue-ray needs an AVCHD to load the project.   I am using a Dell laptop with windows 7 professional.  My drive C has 115 GB used & 167 free GB.    RAM is 4.00 GB  Has a 64 Bit OS  File system is NTFS  I am not tech savvy, so I hope this information about my computer is what you need.   I am using PHOTOSTORY 15 Deluxe.  I don't know the version number, but when checking for the latest version, the message I get is that I have the latest version.

Hi

. . . . Samsung blue-ray needs an AVCHD. . . .

Which model is this?

. . . . the burning process always aborts. . . .

Have you been able to burn an AVCHD disc successfully before this project?

Assuming you are using Windows 7 or 8 - using Windows Explorer browse to the following folder

      C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Program version\

Username = the name you log in to the compuer with,  Program version = the name of the program.

In this folder there should be a file called  dbk.log - open this with Notepad - you need to locate the log information for the burn that failed.  Copy from the start of this burn which is usually indicated by a single line containing the date and time up to and including the error message and paste it into your reply here.

Note - the log will contain more then 1 burn operation - the one you want will be at the bottom of the log if you have not done any burning since the failed one.

Hello John EB.  Thanks for your message.  The Samsung Blueray model is BD-C6500.  I did burn another AVCHD project successfully.  I tried to paste the the log information you wanted, but I am unable to paste it into this reply.  I have the information on the clipboard, and I also have it saved in a Word document.  Is there a way to paste it ?

Hi

Thanks for the info.

From the error log it would appear that you cannot burn Blu-Ray with this computer -  the HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GT60N is a CD/DVD writer only and does not support .

The error log indicates the problem is in the second movie of the project there are a few possibilities for what is causing the problem - they are (in order of increasing probability):

  1. The laptop memory is overheating and a memory fault has stopped the export.

  2. . . . . 167 free GB . . . .

You are running out of disc space - this is possible depending on the length of the videos in the project.

  3. A video clip / image / audio object is causing the abort

Try exporting the second movie timeline as a video file, eg mp4, and see if it fails.  If it does you should be able to see in the export dialog, the approximate time in the movie where the failure occurs.

To find which object caused the error you will then have to remove 2 or 3 at a time from the timeline, just before the time the export aborts, and export again - repeat this along the timeline  until you locate the object causing the issue.

. . . . Samsung blue-ray needs an AVCHD . . . .

The player will also play standard BD discs, however you must specify in the Burn dialog that it is a MPEG-2 disc - select the option indicated below in the Burn dialog

To John EB.   I was finally able to burn my project.  I exported the slideshows within the project to my computer using the MPEG-2 option and the DVD option.  I had to export each slide show seperately.  I saved them to my computer.  I selected the slideshows to be burned.  The slideshows burned to my dvd, but they were not in the correct order.

I renamed the slideshows by starting the name of the first slideshow I wanted to be in my project with the letter A.  I renamed the second slideshow starting with the letter B.  I renamed the rest of the slideshows starting with the letter C, D, and E.  I burned the slideshows again, and they were arranged into the correct order in which I wanted them to be.  My Samsung blueray was able to play my project by selecting the movie option for viewing rather than the Photo option.

Kudos to you for your help !!   I would not have been successful without you.   Thank you for responding to my question.
