Where can I find a manual for DVD ARCHITECT ??

PsychotropicFilms wrote on 4/8/2019, 11:16 PM

I am looking to find the PDF manual for DVD Architect (7.0). I looked in the C: drive in x86 Program Files and couldn't find it there. The 'Help' menu in the program suggests getting the manual off the disc. I downloaded the program from Magix's site - No disc.

If anyone has a copy, I can provide you my email address in a Private Message. Thanks. Bart

Suggest you post on the dedicated Vegas forum in the "Add-Ons" section https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/add-ons-forum/

Actually the answer's simple. Go to your Magix account and into your products. Your DVDA should show two download links. One is for the Manual.

Hi Bart,

Thanks for posting the link to the manual.

Are you using or planning on using DVDArchitect to create DVD's produced using VPX?

I have seen that John EB does this and I am curious to know what the advantages and disadvantages are over using VPX and then Speed burnR.

Can DVDArchitect can handle multiple movies like VPX/MEP?

I'm going to export my film from VPX using the "Intermediate CODEC" rendering option. Then try to import into DVD_Architect to make a BluRay with a menu. For some reason VPX slows to a crawl (10-hours) when trying to render H.265 (HEVC) and MP4 export crashes when I adjust the settings to best quality. Maybe my laptop with an older NVIDIA GTX 770M doesn't have MP4 or MP5 hardware encoding. Anyway, I just gave up and now export from VPX using the "Intermediate CODEC" option and then use DVDFAB software to convert to MP4 or MP5 as the final streaming format.

Hi

. . . . render H.265 (HEVC) . . . now export from VPX using the "Intermediate CODEC" option and then use DVDFAB software to convert . . .

Why not export as AVCHD (.m2ts) directly, this is the standard BD video format.

Do note that DVDA is likely to re-render the video when you create the disc, it can be set not to do this however, in my experience, it crashes DVDA.

The crawling is due to no hardware acceleration using the GTX770M - it does not support HEVC.

Hi John

. . . . Can DVDArchitect can handle multiple movies like VPX/MEP? . . . .

DVDA is far more sophisticated than VPX for the creation of BD and DVD discs ie features such as:

  • Chapters that play only the specific segment of the video and then return to the Chapter menu or wherever you set the end action to be unlike in VPX where the movie continues plying after the selected chapter has played
  • Create multiple play lists.
  • Add video such that it does not have a unique menu and can be linked to from any menu.
  • Create features such as a 'child lock' where a code must be entered before the disc can be played via the scripting language.

In other words you have almost total control over the menu system, actions and features of the disc, however the downside you have to do a lot of pre-preparation if you want animated menus, intermediate/transition videos to play before the selected movie.

@johnebaker

Hi John,

Thanks for the information. Most of my DVD's are fairly simple, but I do like some of the features that you mentioned about DVDArchitect. I'll take a closer look the next time that I have a complex DVD/BR to produce.

Thanks,

John CB
