When will Magix fix the video effects in Video Pro X7? Does Magix know that BRIGHTNESS and CONTRAST do not work???

Videographer wrote on 1/5/2016, 6:54 PM

Sorry. I made a mistake. I apologize to Magix. I did not notice that I had accidentally disabled my effects. I'm a new user of Video Pro X and I was working under deadline and I was feeling quite frustrated with my video due to a lighting problem. Now my brightness and contrast sliders are working. Thanks to Magix customer support for setting me straight. And thanks to the users of this forum who also "educated" me.

Hi,

Brightness and contrast and other video effects work fine for me in VPX7. Rather than make a sweeping statement that the product doesn't work, perhaps you should show us first your problem to see if others have the same problem, or to find out if you are doing something wrong.

1. What is your OS? I am using W7. If you are using W10, then that may be your problem and you need to re-install VPX7; see the appropriate tutorial under Tutorials tab.

2. Did you select the object and have the playback marker over the same object when you modified the sliders? It is easy to have an object selected but the playback marker at another location and then wonder why the effect isn't working; the wrong object is being modified and you can't see it. This happens to me frequently.

3. Latest patch is 14.0.0.145.

4. Why are you using Brightness and Contrast in the first place? Turn on the measuring instruments (especialy waveform monitor) and you will see that these are the worst effects that you can use; black turns to grey or white turns to grey, depending on which way you go. You want to keep black black and white white. You have Gamma and HDR effects that are much better. Use brightness and contrast sparingly, very sparingly.

I wish to offer an apology to Magix. I did not notice that my Video Pro X7 effects had indeed been accidentally disabled.

I was under deadline and I'm a fairly new user of Video Pro X7 and I was feeling quite frustrated. But thanks to the members of this community -- and the very fast response of the Magix customer support team -- I've been "educated" about the effects settings and I am now able to successfully use the brightness and contrast controls.

I use those very infrequently. The only reason I was needing to try them, this time around, was due to a problem with lighting in the room where I shot some video recently. There had been a strange backlight, in that particular room, and it caused the faces of my subjects to appear "dark."

Again, my apologies to all. It has been a difficult week of shooting video.
