What is Track Curve?

Hi all,
I use Mep 14+. When I rightclick in an empty part of a track, I get the question "Display track curves" and "Reset curves" --- Volume and Balance. Display track curves give 2 white lines, one in the middle and one in top of the track. This was not in MEP 11+.
The PDF manual tells nothing about this.
Does anybody know what this is for ? I'm just curious.

I was very curious too and tried to find out from MEP15. Nothing is mentioned in the manual.
I hope you can use my example to do some tests with it:

It applies for audio effects.
Use Alt+5 (blue circle) and you will be able to edit the two track curves, the red line stands for loudness and the white for panorama.
