What are improvements/features from ProX6 to 7 to 8 to 9?

So, I have a working version of Video ProX6 on my Windows 10 PC. I see the $199 this week option to move up to the new X9. Can any of you speak to the most compelling improvements (i.e. speed, RAM usage, stability, x64 core) and/or New Features that would warrant moving up to the new version?

Feature requests I've personally been awaiting haven't shown up to my knowledge: Reliable screen shooting with 2 separate channels of audio (mic and system), a la Bandicam; ASIO; bringing more of Samplitude audio features into the mixer, and good Titling.

Can anyone speak to these or other features that are worthy of upgrading?

Thanks so much! Craig

Hi Craig,

There is a world of difference between VPX6 and the latest version, but only if you need and want it. Things like colour grading are vastly different. The latest offering include effects that I really wanted, especially some of the NB effects, and the cookie cutter.

You missed the Mercalli Stabilizer V4 in VPX7, but VPX8/9 or whatever it is now, has V2, which is pretty good.

Undoubtedly, there is much more. I didn't take note of the changes from X6 to X7, but I like X7 better, and X8 a lot more. The new upgrade is even much better.

However, on the audio side, nothing has happened as far as I know. Have you tried using Music Editor 3? Have you tried replacing ME3 by Samplitude as the external editor?

Me, I wouldn't go back to VPX6. Compared to what I have now, VPX6 seems stark and archaic.

Hi Craig,

You should monitor my post about new features in VPX. It was supposed to be about things other than the main new features announced, but it contains and likely, will contain, more.

If you use the instruments for colour grading, the new features are quite interesting: Levels, LAB Color, Glow and Broadcast Color.

Under Brightness/Contrast, there are now colour curves that can be modified - RGB or just brightness.

MEP now handles LUT's and comes with several.

Other built-in effects that I don't believe were in VPX6 under Video effects include: Mask Generator, Cookie Cutter, Lens Flare, Add Noise, Unsharp mask, Gaussian Blur, Lens correction and one of the best, Shot match.

There are other handy features like Snap markers, and 360degree stitching.

Titling: I don't know if it comes with VPX, but I picked up NB Titler EX, which has some very nice features. However, VPX also has many more templates under Titles. If I recall, there was not very much in VPX6, but the latest version combined with many from VPX7 that did not make it to VPX8. I have 62 templates under Captions - mostly lower thirds.

Under audio, the FX interface has been changed and standardized. There is now Loudness normalization according to EBU R128, and set audio/video offset.

In fact there is much more. You really should scroll down under VPX on the Magix.com site and go through everything.
