Website is down, error 404

Encomm wrote on 2/10/2021, 2:51 AM

Hi,

We have noticed over the last few days our website, www.encomm.org is down and we are getting the message Error 404 - Page not found message when attempting to reach it. I have tried unsuccessfully to ping the server, this does not work. I have raised a ticket with the Technical team without any response to date.

Any advice or guidance appreciated,

Kind Regards,

Brian

@Encomm

Who is your website host? This looks very much like a problem with their server.

Hi Jeff,

I took out the Web designer offer last year with a domain name, I thought it was you who is hosting us.

Brian

@Encomm

Like all the moderators on the forum, I am not a Magix employee, just a fellow-user, so it is not me who is hosting you, sorry!

I can find no page which shows any issues with the Xara hosting server so can only suggest you try this page, which recommends that server problems queries should be directed to infoservice@magix.net.

@Encomm

Hi

Have you recently updated the site?

There are two main possibilities:

  1. You have renamed the home page to something other than index

  2. The site may be in a subfolder of the web root, hence the 404 not found error message - if this is the case and you are using Web Designer to upload check the upload destination settings are correct.

The easy way to check and correct this is to use a FTP program such as FileZilla and login to you site using the same login details as you used to upload it.

Hi John,

The website has been updated recently but was running after the update and the home page is 'index'. I have tried unsuccessfully tried FileZilla - it times out after 20 secs.

I am waiting for a response to the message I sent to infoservice@magix.net , as yet nothing.

Many thanks for the assistance, any other ideas gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Brian
