Web Designer pro uploading to IONOS

Tracey-Thomson wrote on 11/17/2020, 11:38 AM

I am trying to upload my website to a domain through IONOS. The IONOS support team do not know anything about Xara Web Designer Premium and do not know how to help. I am using SFTP options and when checking via Filezilla my files have uploaded. IONOS seem to be geared up for Wordpress only, does anyone know if it is possible?

Secondly if IONOS are unable to support uploading files from Xara am I able to get the domain transferred elsewhere??

Xara has been so easy to use for other websites I've created but through different domain providers.

Hi

Did you compare the Web Designer settings to those you have entered in FileZilla in particular the port settings ?

I too use IONOS, however I never use Web Designer to upload web site pages.

I prefer to export the site from Web Designer to a folder on the PC where I can check them thoroughly and then upload with FileZilla.

. . . . IONOS seem to be geared up for Wordpress only . . . .

I disagree - I use Joomla on IONOS, if you are wanting or need to go down that route and you can upload any CMS system to use providing it uses PHP and MySQL.

Hi John, files have definitely uploaded as IONOS say they can see them as well. But as they don't know anything about Xara they can give no more advice as to why not displaying. Port settings are for SFTP.

I will try again today with your suggestion to export to folder then upload via filezilla. 🤞 Thank you.

Do you mean the website is not being displayed in a web browser when your browse to your sites URL ie are you getting a 404 error Page not found?

If so, the index.html file and the folder that accompanies it must be in the root of your site, I suspect they are in a folder, this means the web server cannot find the index.html file.
