Web Designer Premium Bogging Down on Large Site

I have been using Web Designer Premium 18 for several years, and overall have been happy with the program. However I am having one issue while editing a large site (135 pages). First I will explain that I am using the latest version of the program, and my PC is very fast and less than six months old with 64GB of memory, and this is only an issue on this large site.

The problem is that whether I try to edit text, move an image, or frankly any other edit, the program bogs down like it is trying to think about what to do. Example, I can type one line of text and it may take 4 to 5 minutes for the program to complete the task. This is the case with anything I try to do regarding editing the site. It can take me three or four hours to edit the site when it should only take 30 minutes

I have tried everything from optimizing images to clearing cache, and anything else I could think of. Again, this only happens on a large site. Any suggestions would be very helpful, as I really don't want to create a new site in Wordpress.

The usual causes for Web Designer slowdown are:

a very high number of images which have not been optimised - try the Utilities, Optimise all images option to see if this helps.

a very large number of pages as in your site - the general recommendation is to split the project up into multiple projects/subsites - see this Xara article - Splitting your files section.
