VPX - Inserting a still image command also inserts a gap

browj2 wrote on 3/25/2017, 3:00 PM

Could someone please check this in VPX (8)?

See video.

Make sure to do this with at least 4 clips on the timeline. Set the playback marker part-way along the first video clip, right-click on it and select "Insert still image at the playback marker. Go to the end of the inserted still image to see if you get a 1 frame gap. This does not happen all of the time, but too often for me.

And then check the interfaces of the following clips. Often the beginning of the third one (or another one) further along gets a 1 frame cross-fade. Look at the end of the clip that was split in the video and you can see a cross-fade.

Try it also on the second clip.

This happens on both my desktop and Surface Pro 4.

Thanks,

John

Hi John CB

No problem here with 25fps source video - what frame rate is the source video?

IIRC we had a topic a couple of years ago with the same issue in MEP which was put down to the odd framerate of 29.97 fps or its multiple causing the build up of the small gap which contributed to pushing the rest of the clip after the gap being moved slighlty creating the crossfade..

Can put up 4 short clips that demonstrate this problem so we can test?

Hi John EB,

Yes, 29.97 fps. I'll work up one with several clips.

Hi John EB,

Here is another video and a link to the zipped up project on DropBox.

This time, I did not get any 1f overlaps and the gap showed up only on the third insertion of a still image. This is annoying because in my tutorial, I had a lot of gaps and overlaps. In the video, you will see that the gap is definitely there, but it does not show up when checking for gaps. Other times I see the gaps.

Here is the link.

Is there any way to stop this forum from logging me out after a certain period? I often get logged out before completing a reply.

Thanks,

John CB

Hi John CB

Thanks for the files.

I have tested in this order as follows:

  1. Using your MVP, cleaned removed H0 and HDP files before loading project

Over 10 reloads removing H0 and HDP in between each one - do not get gap or crossfade

  2. Using your MVP, H0 and HDP files loading project *

Over 10 reloads cleaning up in between each one - consistently get 1 frame gap no crossfade.

  3. New project NTSC 1920*1080 29.97fps - add video files only

Over 10 reloads cleaning up in between each one - consistently get 1 frame gap no crossfade.

* This appears to have triggered the gap as it is now appears consistently there when I try any of the three above.

With a PAL 1920 * 1080 25fps and 25 fps MP4 video after 10 attempts I cannot get a gap to appear.

Hi John EB,

Thanks for checking this and confirming that there is a problem. Those gaps are annoying. I will open a ticket with Magix.
