Hi,
With video and audio on separate tracks, mp4 or mts files, right-click on the audio part of a clip and look for "Edit wave externally." It may or may not be there. When it is there, and it was in one session today, it transformed the audio part into a wave file, replacing the audio part. I had Audio&Music Lab Premium as the Audio editor. AML opened, and I just went from one clip to another, right-click, "Edit wave ext..." and they all changed (one by one) to wave.
I later changed the editor to Music Editor 3, which is the default. I could not do the same thing and I could not even get it to open by selecting a wave file and using "Edit wave externally." I switched back to AML and could no long see the option upon right clicking. I rebooted. No success.
Any idea as to how this thing works and why it works sometimes but not other times?
Here is an image showing that 2 of the clips were transformed to wave, the others no.
Edit wave externally does not show up.
In order to be able to export as EDL and open in Samplitude, all of the audio files have to be transformed into wave, and available. The original audio will not go across and open in Samplitude, nor will the video clips. The video part has to be mixed down; avi is the format created. Here is the result when it works:
The audio files show up on the correct tracks, along with transitions and fades. The avi video shows up on track 1.
Here is the EDL export dialogue:
If I use under Video "Hand over video objects" nothing opens in Samplitude, probably because my video files are not avi.
If I use "Mix down audio objects" then only one audio wave file is created and opened in Samplitude.
If the audio objects are not wave objects and "Hand over audio objects" is selected, no audio opens in Samplitude.
The idea is to be able to adjust volume, add effects, etc. in Samplitude and export to AAF or OMF for transfer to other Audio programs, which Samplitude does.
The only problem right now is to always be able to transform the audio part to WAVE, but I can't always do it because the option usually does not show up.
Mixing down is not a solution because it creates an audio file of the entire soundtrack..
Solution? Or is this a bug?
