I've certainly never seen this behaviour, in all versions from 1 to 3.  (Don't know about 4, only just ordered it).  Within Program settings I think I have changed almost every directory from its default to the ones I want to use.

I wonder whether a Repair Install might be a good idea here?  I think the easiest way to do this is to insert the original CD/DVD or re-run the installer if you downloaded.  Soon after the installer starts you should see the option to "Repair".

As a matter of interest, does any other media player (e.g. Windows Media Player) have any problem playing the audio of these "moved" files?

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  I know how frustrating these sort of "silly" problems can be.  (In my case, with VPX3, the burn screen preview does not work.  No amount of "reparing" the install worked for this and MAGIX Tech Support admit they have no idea why it fails.  MEP MX Premium on the same machine does NOT have the problem!)

Yes. They play fine in the media players. They also have no problem in VPX until I change a directory. I also have Vegas Pro 8 and it will load these w/o problems.

Issue occurs whether I have extract audio form files on or off.

Will do a registry clean and then repair the installation.

Thanks for replying.
