Video staggers when saved, not while recording

I was trying to copy a VHS tape as one normally would and in the preview as it was being recorded it seemed to play normally, however when it came time to edit it the tape came out staggered like a slide show and thus is more or less unusable for this, Basically it came out incredibly different to the preview.

I noticed that the Video was recorded as Long Play form, which might be a factor but I can't know.

I'm using the converter that was mailed out with the program, using the Composite cables and a Window's 8 Computer

The program was "Rescue Your Video Tapes 6"

This is the first time I've had this problem but would love to know of a solution as soon as possible, thankyou.

What settings did you use for recording the video?

What is the specification of your computer and is Windows the 32 or 64 bit version?

I used the High standard (And then the Very High standard) and it's in Pal B, i'm not sure if that's what settings you mean but those're the only ones I set so if I'm missunderstanding I'm sorry

The windows is the 64 bit version

Also I'm sorry for being stupid here (I really do suck at this computer sometimes, I'd blame Windows but that'd be fum) Which specifications do you need cos I opened System information and oh lord there's a lot of stuff and I don't know what'd be relevant.

Most of the information you can get by opening the Control Panel, System and Security, System option.

The information required is shown cirecled in this image ( this is Windows 7, Windows 8 is similar)

Your PC has enough power to play back smoothly when you record with the High setting which IIRC is DVD standard ie 720*576 PAL.

Using the Very High standard which IIRC is HD will not gain any improvement on the video as the resolution for VHS is well below that of standard DVD, and will cause potential problems on playback at edit time.

I would look to see what other programs you have running - shut down any unecessary software - certain well known Antivirus programs are known to be resource hogs - I have seen a lower spec computer brought to a crawl with three particular brands of AntiVirus product.

Also try different program settings for video playback ie Hardware Acceleration (Direct 3D), Alternative Mode 1 (Mixer Overlay), Alternative Mode 2 (Video Mixing Renderer 9) to see if you get any improvement
