Video Pro X7 Slow render

TFCOG wrote on 9/19/2015, 3:23 PM

I've got an i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5

ssd hardrive with windows 7 64 bit

16 gb ram

an ssd export drive

plus 5 tb of storage

Anyway I've tried everything I can think of to speed up the render times. Right now it takes 3 times the length of my videos. Hardware acceleration is definatley faster but I see people with = or less power rendering in 1/2 the time of the acutal footage.

Are there some settings I need to tweak or is this just as good as it gets? I also noticed that at no point does my system use more than 5 gbs of ram.

Any help would be great...

OS 250 gb ssd with 50 gb free

Storage Internal:

e drive: 1tb media hhd where I import all video and audio files

f drive: 1 tb hhd where I install misc programs and non video files

z drive: 2 tb hhd where I transfer finished videos after they are rendered

s drive:65 gb ssd where I render videos to

External:

1 tb external storage.

the swap file is on the f drive but I have it allocated to 22-25 gb. I think that might be one of my problems...?

... which is pretty normal for HD videos. So there's nothing to worry about.

Hi

What size is the OS SSD drive and free space?

. . . . plus 5 tb of storage . . . .

In what form - internal hard drives or USB external drives?  If USB drives are they USB 2 or 3?

Where are the projects and source files stored?

. . . . at no point does my system use more than 5 gbs of ram . . . .

Where is the Windows swap file located?

the swap file is on the c drive but I have it allocated to 0 because I was told this would force everything to the ram.

Hi

That would not help the problem - forcing the swap file to 0 so that only RAM id used should only be done if you have 32GB or more RAM available.

It is best to let Windows assign the amount of RAM required - this will keep the amount of RAM available more flexible and free up RAM as required.
