Video Pro X6 + Defishr 1.0 plug in (Not SAL -- stand alone version)

I just purchased the Defishr plug-in, produced by ProDad, for Video Pro X6, available from the Magix website.

It is a 64bit plug in and is identified to only work with VPX6. Interestingly enough, it does appear in VPX5 once installed, but when you try to apply it the plug-in cannot activate, since X5 is 32bit. In X6 it shows up under the effects tab, under the ProDad section and when applied to a clip a panel of settings appears right away. But when I clicked on the (un-named) drop down box, which shows various camera presets for GoPro, Sony, etc...I was disappointed to not see Drift Ghost-S presets.

I own a Drift Ghost-S and in the stand-alone (SAL) version of Defishr (I downloaded and installed the a demo version) there are presets for the Ghost-S for the three field of view settings (90, 127, and 160 degree). And you can see the settings for the Ghost-S so I went back into the plug-in and looked for a way to enter the values but had no luck with that...BTW, here are the settings (I've verified that they work well with footage from my camera):

                            Angular       Rectified Angular
                           Aperture            Aperture

Drift Ghost-s 90 ...  52.9        --         49.5

Drift Ghost-s 127 ... 83.4       --         71.9

Drift Ghost-s 160 ... 113.2     --          89.4

There are no instructions/documentation that I can find for using the plug in...and most importantly no information on how to add additional profiles to the list of presets for various cameras. I've send off an inquiry to ProDad and will share whatever response I receive back.

Maybe I've missed something...if you've discovered the secret then let me know!!! Otherwise, sit tight until we get a (hopefully positive) answer on how to do this...

Oh, and when I went to try and register the plug-in with Magix (after all I did purchase it from Magix) I got a "Wrong product registration number" error message, and cannot proceed.

Anyway, being somewhat adventuresome, I tried to install the "Service Update" for Defishr that ProDad makes available for download...but it does not see the 'Magix plug-in' version so my hope that I could 'upgrade' the camera presets this way was dashed.

On the ProDad site they have a log of updates to Defishr. Drift Ghost settings were added in the 4-Jun-2014 update (version 1.0.63) and there have been two additional updates since then, bringing the latest version to 1.0.65 (correcting some camera profiles and a few program adjustments).

I hope that the plug in version will not end up being a 'stranded' program, lacking program updates.  What goes through the minds of the company staff when they are planning these alliances with other companies. I've been editing with Magix products back to Video Deluxe in 2002.  Is one of the principles 'Lets keep our existing customers'...? Or is it lets add a feature to try and get new customers...and then someone 'forgets' to keep it on the list of things to maintain....

Hi Michael: I'd be interested to hear how MAGIX answer that justifiable question!
