Video picture flickers

Aki-Politsopoulos wrote on 1/17/2021, 11:01 AM

Dear tech support,

I have Rescue Your Videotapes - version 7.

Over the last 3 months I have not been able to successfully convert any videos whether VHS, Hi8 or DVD due to a technical issue that has risen up and that is I get flickering of the picture every 4-8 seconds. The picture is jumpy. At first I thought it may be the source e.g. VHS tape. But it happens with any source. Even when I have stopped the input, the picture jumps. I have a Core-i7 PC with 16GB RAM, 240GB SSD and Windows 10 64-bit. I have used this already the previous year and managed to convert over 30 videos. I even fully uninstalled the software and device drivers, downloaded them again from your site - but no luck.

I also installed another software which captures analog source but I get the same problem. This means it must be the hardware that is at fault. I have spent weeks on various forums but nothing has helped.

Can you please help me?

Thanking you in advance,

Aki.

Hi

. . . . This means it must be the hardware that is at fault. . . . .

Not necessarily - it could be electrical interference.

Does the flickering still persist if you move location?

HI

Have tried with desktop and laptop and also tried different outputs. When I play on TV thers no disturbances.

What is the problem???

@Aki-Politsopoulos @Michael-Jansson

Mobile phones can cause problems if placed close by or next to leads or computers. If some way from a receiving tower they can also up their output to 'send' their location which they do regularly whether in use of not. Some leads from headphones or microphones if not shielded well or grounded will act like aerials to pick up any nearby electrical signal. Everything works on such low voltages now it is easy for stray signals to enter electrical pathways. Even a neighbours baby alarm working or broadcasting via the mains supply can travel several hundred yards. With any problem like this it is difficult to pinpoint the causes.

HI

Thanks for the reply.
Going out to the country this weekend, keep your fingers crossed that it works.

I will be back with answers.

Three different computers in three different locations, two different packages and two different VHS players. Unfortunately I actually think there is something wrong with your converter. Software looks very good but now I given up.

Clas Ohlson is one of the larger chains in Sweden and they have stopped using the product. In the shops I have been to, there are only opened and returned boxes, I think that is because they do not work.
I'm really sorry this did not work after all the work I put in.
