Hi

Normally you connect the camera to the computer with a Firewire cable to a Firewire interface on your computer.  Video Easy should be able to record the video.

Panasonic do say you can transfer via USB but I suspect they have a piece of software that came with the camera that lets you import and convert the DV stream.

Sorry Guys I'm a complete newby to most of this so I'm learning as I go.

Fhomi,

it says in manual format is Digital video SD format.

Johnebaker

I only have USB cable, firewire is optional extra would that help? or is the problem camera is SD format and not HD and I've bought the wrong software?

johnebaker wrote on 11/23/2011, 4:52 PM

Hi

The format is a standard definition digitally encoded video+audio stream recorded to tape.  This means that you have to have a way of getting the decoded stream into the computer.  Most video editting programs which support DV capture will use Firewire.

Page 50 onwards in the manual tells you to use the supplied software to capture the video by USB.

Presumably this will convert the video stream to a format that Video Easy can use.

Hi guys,

I've been told by Magix support the problem is that I need a firewire connection to connect to Video easy but I can capture the video to Windows Live Movie Maker via USB and then transfer it to Video easy so I will try that.

Thanks for your help
