After loading the program, I can access mp4 files on my computer, but the Magix Easy program does not show the video. I get the sound but the video screen is blank (black). Please advise so I can use the program. Perhaps I need to install something else.
Welcome to the Magix user to user forum.
mp4 is a "container" format and each individual file will use and need certain specific codecs to enable successful playback. It may be that Video Easy does not include such codecs for your specific files.

I have exactly the same problem. I have downloaded MediaInfo and installed it. How do you create the 'Text View'? I can download a screenshot but to where? And what happens after that?

Neil, you're almost there. With the file open in Mediainfo, click on View>Text View. This will display a more detailed view of the information about your file. You can copy all that text and paste it into a post here. Of particular interest will be the specific video codec used.

I trust that the attached txt file gives the info required but I have just tried to upload it as a txt file but the format is not supported. I am very disappointed with both the Magix program and the MediaInfo program. The word 'easy' dooes NOT apply!

No disrespect but what the heck did you record the file with?
A variable frame rate of just under 24fps minimum with a maximum frame rate of 90 frames per second.
Unusual aspect ratio of 1.85:1
Low bit rate file for length of video vs viewing size.
Is this game play footage?
Normally, a video editing package is expecting to find video files using a constant frame rate such as a camcorder or a mirror-less camera would produce. It is unlikely to cope with frame rates that jump about so much. Such files normally would have to be converted to a constant frame rate video file using a program like Handbrake before they can be successfully edited in an NLE.

I did not record the file. The clip "Midnight in Paris Intro Scene.mp4" is YouTube file and is the opening scene of the Woody Allen movie. There is a section of dialogue that I want to delete to improve my viewing pleasure but as stated, no video appears in Video Not So Easy.

If this is a paid for YouTube video then it could be part of a Digital Rights Management system designed to prevent further editing of the footage.

Re Mediainfo, all you needed to do was copy and paste the text, as I mentioned before. But thanks for Mediainfo image.
Re the actual video, I've downloaded it and interestingly, the frame rate here is much tighter:
Frame rate mode : Variable
Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS
Minimum frame rate : 23.974 FPS
Maximum frame rate : 23.981 FPS
The file opens and edits OK in Movie Edit Pro (VE's big brother); why it won't open in VE is a mystery.

AFAICS the MP4 container file format is not a supported by Video Easy.
The supported formats that I can find are:
(DV-)AVI, M2TS, MJPEG, MKV, MOV, MXV, VOB, WMV.
Given the source file is MP4 the best option is to change the container file to AVCHD (M2TS) or MKV using a video converter - Handbrake can convert to MKV, however not M2TS avoiding re-encoding.

Thank you John for your advice. Converting video formats is not in my skillset. Therefore, the Video Not So Easy program is not of any use to me. I will discontinue any attempt to use it.

Especially as Magix admit themselves that MP4 is one of the most common and that Video Easy exports to that format.
