Video deluxe Premium fills up RAM during apparent update until crash

Jonas-F wrote on 11/29/2023, 3:25 AM

Since a few days, Video deluxe is crashing a few minutes after start as it's allegedly updating (task manager shows network usage). Simultaneously, the program uses more and more RAM until it ultimately crashes at around 8GB RAM usage. Due to the crash the apparent update won't finish, starting again at the next program start, making it impossible to use atm.

The only workaround is starting Video deluxe without internet connection.

No crash report available as I need to close it manually via task manager.

Video deluxe Version: 19.0.2.58 (UDP3)

Windows 10 Home 22H2

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor  3.70 GHz

32,0 GB RAM

@Jonas-F

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

I hope other members will also join in replying with their ideas if I have left anything out.

Thank you for the information you have supplied so far and the description of the problem.

It does seem odd that it was running but not now.

Therefore can you answer all of the following questions please?

How many sticks of ram are you using?

Have you tried unplugging and reseating them?

Have you done a memory check test?

What graphics card are you using and have you checked that the drivers are up to date?

Are you running Movie Edit Pro 2020?

Have you overclocked your system for gaming or recently changed any settings?

Have you tried turning off any antivirus programs while the update is running including Windows defender?

Ray.

How many sticks of ram are you using? 2x16GB G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16

Have you tried unplugging and reseating them? no

Have you done a memory check test? no, and I highly doubt the memory is the problem, as only MAGIX is affected

What graphics card are you using and have you checked that the drivers are up to date? RTX2070 Super, yes

Are you running Movie Edit Pro 2020? no

Have you overclocked your system for gaming or recently changed any settings? no

Have you tried turning off any antivirus programs while the update is running including Windows defender? yes, makes no difference

And as of today, disabling my network doesn't work as a workaround anymore.

Also pretty funny to have this all happening as advertisement for purchasing the newest version starts popping up on program start.

Hi

Check if there have been any crash reports generated by Windows - for the short form report - not the Windows crash logs, see this short tutorial on how to user the Windows Performance monitor to get a short form analysis - this does assume that the crashes got logged - and post a screenshot of the Movie Studio crash.

Hi

Uninstall Magix Cloud Import, it may also show as Update notifier, Magix Connect or Connect, then do a full restart of the computer - not a shutdown/powerup.
