Video capturing issue

Hello,

I want to convert my family video tapes but I get only black screen with white lines (screenshot 1).

When video is paused I can see a single frame from my tape, also I can watch video in Rewind mode (screenshot 2).

But every time when I turn on Play mode after a few seconds of playing I always get a black screen and lines. I've tried all video standards but the problem is still here.

I use LG DC600W DVD/videotape player (PAL/NTSC) and MAGIX kit (picture 3), which is connected to my notebook with Win10. Do I have the same issue like in this topic https://www.magix.info/us/forum/ntsc-in-black-and-white--1264041/ ?

Unfortunately I have a lot of family video tapes and now I don't have any idea how to convert them to digital format. I will be very grateful for any help.

Hi

. . . . when I turn on Play mode after a few seconds of playing I always get a black screen and lines. I've tried all video standards but the problem is still here . . . .

If you are trying to record from NTSC tapes then it is very likely that you have the same issues as the user in the topic you linked to.

Do the video tapes play correctly on a TV and what is the video standard (PAL or NTSC) you are using.

The images also appear to be showing a sync or loss of tracking issue.

Hello, John

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

Do the video tapes play correctly on a TV and what is the video standard (PAL or NTSC) you are using.

I checked my video-player a couple of months ago and it played tapes correctly on a TV. I do not know much about video standards but I've found my videotape-player box and there is "NTSC Playback on PAL TV" text on it, so I guess it's all about conversion of NTSC signal to PAL, as you wrote earlier in another topic.

I have bought NTSC-PAL Video Converter and hope it will solve the issue when I get it.

The images also appear to be showing a sync or loss of tracking issue.

Could you tell more about this one and how can I fix it?

@A.K

Hi

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully the new converter does support the NTSC 4.43 format.

. . . .  tracking issue . . . .

Some older VCRs have a tracking control on the front panel or via the remote control, the principle being that the video tape speed is raised/lowered by very small amount to ensure the heads track the centre of the video track on the tape, more modern VCRs do this automatically.
