Video and Audio out of Synch

mike-g7843 wrote on 11/16/2024, 9:50 AM

After clipping a section out of a video and then exporting it as an mpeg4 the video and audio is way out of synch. The original video was perfectly in synch. I've recently upgraded to the Movie Studio 2025. I was able to do the same thing in Movie Studio 2024 with no problem, I am on the latest update of Movie Studio 2025. Any one have any ideas please?

Hi

This issue is common with mobile phone video ans some other camera sources.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to set up MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

In the analysis, if you see this line in the video section:

Frame rate mode: Variable

Then this is the likely cause of the issue, the video need converting to Constant frame rate, before importing. Handbrake or Avidemux are capable of doing the conversion and there is a tutorial on how to do the with Handbrake here.

If the frame rate mode is Constant, then post the MediaInfo data in a comment along with your computer specification.

See this topic for what is required, and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

A screenshot of the Program settings, Device options tab would help.

Hi thanks for your reply - the camera is the same as we've used for the last few years and the laptop is the same as we've used for the last few years the only difference is that I paid for Movie Suite 25 instead of keeping to Movie Suite 24. I've done countless numbers of mpeg4s with no problem so there must be an issue with the software rather than the hardware.

Hi

. . . . I've done countless numbers of mpeg4s with no problem so there must be an issue with the software rather than the hardware. . . .

Applying the opposite logic, it may be that upgrading to MMS 2025 has finally tripped you over the laptop hardware capabilities. As a general rule, each new version advances to take advantage of newer technologies with some backward compatibility. At some point, an older computer will lose out on performance and not have capabilities that the program can use.

For that, we need the laptop specs and the MediaInfo analysis of a video clip from the camerato determine if this is the case

Would I be able to uninstall MovieSuite25 and reinstall Moviesuite24?

Hi

You can, the downloader and serial number should be available in your account at magix.com.

If you want a clean re-install then uninstall MMS 2025 first.
