@Jimmy-Butler

Hi

Assuming your Update Service is still valid, check in the version 17 if there is not an update available to take it to version 18.

The 17 version tells me my updates expired ....no update or upgrade I can see.

@Jimmy-Butler

Then your only option is to renew your Update Service, which will then apply to both computers.

But the other copy is already up-to-date. August 2021...it should be that way on both copies. That one shows: 18.5.0.62892 DL x64 Aug 11 2021 Update Service code: 4315 KA1

They should be the same copy.

@Jimmy-Butler

Hi

. . . . They should be the same copy. . . .

I suspect that the following have occurred:

  1. The first copy (newer version) has been upgraded, during your valid Update Service period, from what you initially purchased, and will remain at this version until you need to re-install.

  2. The second copy (older version) has been installed after your Update Service expired - if you re-install after the Update service expires you get the original version you purchased.

See here for the terms and conditions - 3rd column headed Unlimited use.

That is baloney - I have been a Xara user a long time. If one copy activates and is uo]praded the other copy should also. You should be able to match them properly. Without another upgrade, I just did one for this license in August. Do I need to talk with the billing department or can you fix it?

emmrecs wrote on 12/31/2021, 5:19 PM

@Jimmy-Butler

It is not baloney! But first we need to emphasise that ALL who post here, including the Moderators, are not Magix employees. So no-one here can fix anything.

If, for any reason, the laptop which has not updated was not used or turned on between the date the new version was released and the date your update service expired I would suspect that that may explain why that laptop is still on version 17.

Sorry, I did not know this was not Magix support. It was a simple fix, I fixed it. I would not have posted here if I had known it was not Magix support, I certainly don't expect forum folks to fix anything. I thank you for your responses. Will not bug you folks anymore. I did get them to match, I was getting angry about being 'forced' to buy another upgrade.

Thank you for the update, and apology! It is quite a common misunderstanding about the precise nature of these forums.

I'm glad you were able to resolve the problem. To help other users who may experience the same thing, can you tell us exactly how you did it?
