Version 16.1.4.32 update

Sad that simple things have not been addressed in this update, like saving your own effects and more image sorting options. Instead all the effort has been put into over the top effect and sounds most of which you have to pay extra for. I'm not against paying for extras but I am against it being so in your face.

I not sure how to download the free sounds that have the free icon, as the normal login certainly does not work.

I was hoping this program would be logical and simple to use, seems this update has made it more complex and less user friendly. I gave up using Proshow Gold because it became far too complex and over the top.

I just want to be able to put simple slideshow, with gentle image movement together. It has to be shown at UHD resolution on a very good TV.

I know I can create very simply slideshows with static images and dissolves using this program, but then I can do that on any of the video editing programs I'm currently using all the time.

I also know I can add effects using the wizard but many do not suit the flow of the presentation so have to be changed. To get it how I want it I create my own and copy and paste them throughout the presentation. Unfortunately I have to remake them every time I create a show.

Don't get me wrong most of the program is very good, but please get the basics right before you start added all the bells and whistles.

I couldn't agree more! They've ruined it. The transitions have stopped working, the wizard doesn't work any more and there are crashes and error messages galore when trying to export a slideshow. I only recently bought the software after using the trial, and if it had been like this when I first downloaded it, I would never have bothered.

Hi

@bollingerbabe

There is a new patch 16.1.4.36 which fixes the transitions issue. Update to this Help, Update online.

@goorawin

. . . . I just want to be able to put simple slideshow, with gentle image movement together . . .

Photostory is a simple program with many features that enable you to do this, however if you want to depart from what the wizards provide then you do have to do some work.

You can however customise the actions of many of the wizards eg Slideshow Maker.

. . . . .saving effects. . . .

By its very nature of simplicity the program does not have a full set of features as found in the more expensive editing programs such as Movie Edit Pro or VPX.

Hi John,

Thank you for this - I have downloaded and installed version 16.1.4.36 and indeed the transition issue is sorted, but now I have another problem. The free included HitFilm Plug-ins now have features missing/removed (see screen shot below). One of them HitFilm Leave Colour, was one I used to use a lot, and it's disappeared! I have tried repairing the HitFilm add-ins to no avail.

It seems as if one problem is resolved for another one to be created. :-(

Hi

It appears that it is not just MEP that 'loses' installed Hitfilm effects.

In the Effects tab select Extra effects, Scan. . . the missing effect should re-appear.

Hi John,

Nope. I've tried that (as well as restarting the PC) and the missing affects don't reappear. I've even tried reinstalling the Hitfilm plugins. Nothing. Sorry, but I'm just really disappointed with how this program is turning out. :-(

Hi Debbie

AFAICS, the Hitfilm Light Show is not part of the Movie Edit Pro Hitfilm Tool kit package.

However it is an additional package for Photostory Deluxe - did you have this installed on your PC and have uninstalled it?

It was part of the overall special offer; buy PhotoStory and get the effects bundled with it. They all worked perfectly fine immediately before I "upgraded" to 16.1.4.36. I then noticed that some of the effects had disappeared, both in Colour Explosion and Light Show. One effect was called Leave Color and was one I used a lot. I tried reinstalling the effects to no avail. I am heartily sorry I ever upgraded at all; before 16.1.4.32 and the current version everything was fine, but since then it seems that one issue is fixed for another one to break. I am a ICT support engineer with 15+ years experience, so I do know how to install and troubleshoot software.

Is there any way I can roll the version back to the one immediately before 16.1.4.32?

Hi

Debbie

Apologies for mentioning Movie Edit Pro - however there was a similar issue with losing effects and Magix issued a fix for it.

I would suggest you raise a support ticket here.
